Makeup tutorial for photography! Lots of photo friendly makeup tips, this look is very neutral and the shades suit everyone 🙂

Winged eyeshadow shapes are very in right now but if it’s not your thing, feel free to substitute for a softer shape. Mature lids may also opt for satin finish eyeshadows over the metallic options in this tutorial (I’ve chosen an extreme contrast in textures).

Nail polish I’m wearing in this tutorial

Unail Gel Nail Polish (Whisper, Petal and Kingfisher – apparently I couldn’t decide). You can check out the Unail offerings here.

  1. Karima,

Nice work! I loved this tutorial, and it has inspired some ideas for how I’m going to do a Bride’s makeup on Saturday, so thanks! How do you find the Rae Morris liquid foundation brush for applying/buffing in foundation? Whenever I use it, I’m surprised at how decent it performs relevant to other duo fiber brushes. Just curious on your thoughts. Take care!

  2. Hi Karima,
This is unrelated to the post, but how did you get along with the P50? There’s an old post about you purchasing it, but I don’t think we ever heard how you liked it.
Also, how do you feel about the Guerlain meteorites? I’m looking for a glowy finishing powder and considering the meteorites.
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Amy,

I’ve been meaning to report back on the P50! I noticed my skin was much brighter and smoother but it didn’t do much in terms of congestion. It also stinks REALLY BAD HOLY WOW. Generally I can put a smell aside but this was near nauseating.

Guerlain Meteorites have changed formulations and I haven’t had the chance to try the new ones, so I can’t say!

      xx

  3. Hi Karima! Quick question: what is the white product that you mixed in with the Armani? And does it affect the finish/longevity?

  4. Always amazing, Karima! Not only have to got me lusting over By Terry lippies, but also these RBR shadows and their amazing names and finishes! Ahh!!
    xx

  5. Those photograpy tips are probably one of the best ones I’ve ever come across. I appreciate your technicality. Thank you.

    P. S. Would you mind zooming in your screen when you do your eye makeup? I sometimes can’t gauge what exactly is going on. You don’t have to zoom completely to your eye, just a little closer (the Double Wingled Eyeliner tutorial comes to mind).

    1. Hey TP šŸ™‚

So glad you found it helpful!
My filming setup has changed vastly since my double winged eyeliner tutorial but I can get in a bit closer, if it wasn’t quite close enough in this tutorial.

      xx

  6. Hi Karima,
I just love your videos and blog. But seriously you’re bad for my pocketbook! I have just one RBR eyeshadow in Chestnut Napped Apalis…thanks to you šŸ˜‰ and I love it. The texture is so creamy and the pay-off is amazing!!! But now I think I need a dozen more. And watching the Rae Morris brushes in action has got me lusting…shame on you šŸ˜‰ I am looking forward to an objective review on the Rae Morris collection. Thanks again. Danielle

    1. Hey Danielle!

Chestnut Napped Apalis is my all time, most used eyeshadow šŸ™‚ Love it to bits, so versatile. The Rae Morris brushes are very exciting, I’ll be doing a video on them soon!

      xx

  7. Hi Karima,
It’s rare to see you do this kind of full on makeup tutorials. It’s beautiful and shows how good you are with makeup.
Sometimes makeup just works wonder. When I feel like I’m starting a bad day, once I sit down and spend some good 45 mins to do my makeup, I feel better.
Ahhhh! I have two things to thank you. I tried to mix my L’oreal True Match with my Bourgois Healthy Mix… And true! My foundation looks ridiculously flawless. I can never go back. The second thing is I decide to splurge on that Ultimate Cheek Bone brush. Amen…
    Love, Sindy

    1. Hey Sindy,

It’s true, there is definitely more base going on in this tutorial (when compared to my usual). Some events call for it šŸ™‚

So glad you love the foundation combo and I hope you love the Ultimate Cheek Bone Brush, too!

      xx

  8. SO CHIC!! loved it. Im crazy about this Guerlain terracotta nude. I NC15-20, I think it will fit perfect!
Btw, I’m on a vibe like, im looking for foundations with skincare, I mean whatever makeup with skincare, like moisturizers concealers (it would be awesome if comes with anti age eyecare, LOL! dream.) and foundations anti-age. Im thinking about try Sisleya foundation, and some other thing else, do you apply something like this? Please, make a review about this foundation I mentioned!
love your blog <3 xo from brazil
