Today’s tutorial is a bright eye look – teals, purples & lime greens. It has a sort of ethereal, mermaid vibe 🙂 Do you like brighter, bolder tutorials? Let me know in the comments!

Youtuber of the week is: BangerBeauty (also check out Linda Hallberg’s blog here, it’s mind-blowing).

  1. This looks so lovely on you! I really like watching your makeup tutorials for tips and techniques. It is a bonus you also look like a model <3

I wish I could do looks like these…but with hardly any lid space and no socket, you could hardly see any color on my eyes after adding a little bit a liner. oh woe! =P

    1. Hey Desiree šŸ™‚
So glad you liked it! I’m not sure what shape eye you have, but there is one youtuber that does tutorials on smaller lid spaces, JSM:

I always drool over these looks but my eye shape is so different that they never look the same! Perhaps you will have more luck šŸ™‚
      xxkarima

  2. Hey Karima! This looks stunning on you! I can see the skill behind this.. it just comes through! Really beautifully done look without going over the top!

  3. I love it! It’s like a well thought out (and skilfully executed) version of the looks I end up with when I ‘play with my facepaints’ (my boyfriend’s words; I don’t know how to tell him that those facepaints are worth more than his car). Please do some more bright/experimental looks in the future x

    1. Funny you should say that, this was an experimental ‘playing with the face paints’ sorta look šŸ™‚
LOL @ worth more than his car. I don’t show people my stash because I’m afraid they’d think I was a lunatic šŸ˜›
Definitely will play with more colour in the future šŸ˜€ xx

  4. I love this look! I love how glowy in the center it is. I’m from the US and I can’t seem to find the shu uemura shadows on the us website. do you have any ideas of dupes for those shadows?

    1. Hey Shelley šŸ™‚
I love glowy central lid highlights, too!
I’m sure MAC makes comparable shades, something like Lucky Green for the lime green, Humid for the darker green, Steamy for the mint and Beauty Marked for the blackened purple.
      Hope this helps šŸ™‚ x

  5. I have been waiting for you to post this since you gave photos on MUA like a week ago. <3 I love this it is BEAUTIFUL! and killing me how lovely it is XD

  6. That’s absolutely stunning! Your eyes look incredibly expressive!
I love these coloful creative looks, but it’s so hard to incorporate them naturally to my life! I definetely need some special occasions to justify some experiments!

    1. Hey Lena šŸ™‚
To be fair, I wore this to dinner with my grandmother so not exactly a special occasion LOL. It’s ‘me time’, y’know? I enjoy it šŸ™‚
      xx

  7. Wow, Karima, that is one bold look. You’d have to be a lot braver than me to pull that off. Anyway, I am getting in touch to request a tutorial of a different kind. As you know,Hakuhodo recommend you do not wash their brushes too often. So I was wondering how You, OH WISE ONE, clean your Hakuhodo and other delicate brushes. I would be interested in both the spot cleaning method after use and the more thorough cleaning method you employ, also products you find useful etc. I have a couple of blenders I use for dark shades and cream shadows and I want to get them clean without damaging the fibres and I know you adore Hakuhodo as much as I do. A video would be great! One of your lovely chatty ones, where you explain it all step by step? Pretty please? Love from the UK.

    1. Hey Esther šŸ™‚
The more colour you wear, the less it seems like a big deal. I think people are used to a rainbow me šŸ˜›
I will do a brush cleansing video soon but perhaps a month or so from now. Until then: I wash my brushes with BeautyBlender liquid cleanser, I like this one because it doesn’t sud up too much.
I don’t spot clean my delicate fibres with alcohol, instead I wipe them down on a micro fibre cloth (unless I’ve used them for bright eyeshadow, in which case I have to deep cleanse).
Hakuhodo does recommend infrequent washing but frankly, I’m too obsessive about cleanliness to avoid washing my brushes. I’m just very delicate – don’t mash the brush into your hand.
Hope this answers a few questions till I get around to the video šŸ˜€ x

  8. Beautiful look Karima! Love the blue transition color – Very well done. šŸ™‚

Thanks for the info on Linda Hallberg; what a beauty and what talent! Could you do your personal interpretation of this look: https://img.makeupalley.com/1/5/8/5/2615049.JPG

Here is the link to the tut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8ZYFB4h3CM

I’m normally very conservative when it comes to makeup but this look is so incredible – It would be wonderful to see your take on it. Not sure if I’m crazy about the brown lipstick but the eyes are otherworldly.

    Thanks!

    Angela <3

    1. Hey Angela šŸ™‚
Linda is amazing <3 one of the most inspiring beauty bloggers in my opinion! Seeing as she's already done an awesome tutorial on that look, I shouldn't copy her look but I like the pop of colour and I can incorporate the concept into my to-do list šŸ˜€
      xx

  9. Too pretty! This artistry of this look is incredible. Very striking. I really enjoyed watching this tutorial.

BTW what do you think of Shu eyeshadows in terms of texture, finish and blendability?

    1. Hey Jen šŸ™‚
So pleased you enjoyed the tutorial!
I have a mixture of Shu eyeshadows, these particular shadows were an older formulation (2nd generation, I believe) and they are a bit softer than the current formulation. I do love the current Shu eyeshadows, they also do awesome glitter topcoats! Would recommend getting a few shades to see how you like the formula šŸ™‚
      xx

  10. stunning! you look so gorgeous. i like the color combination you did good job , i really enjoy your tutorials and i like the way you apply makeup, so talented šŸ™‚ i have learnt many tips , thank you, by the way your name in Arabic means a “generous woman “

  11. I cant seem to get these Shu Uemura eye-shadows anywhere in Australia, you wouldn’t happen to know some good dupes for these?

    1. Hey Sarah,
Copied and pasted from a previous comment:
Iā€™m sure MAC makes comparable shades, something like Lucky Green for the lime green, Humid for the darker green, Steamy for the mint and Beauty Marked for the blackened purple.
      Hope this helps šŸ™‚ x

  12. Ohhhh, this is so beautiful, I feel this is the perfect look to experiment with my new Rouge Bunny Rouge sample of ‘Spun from Sunny Seawater’ Firedrops… how wonderful!
