A mash up of a few fun things: double winged liner, gradient eyeliner and spring colours!

View Video Transcript

Hi, everyone. Welcome back. I hope you all had a fantastic Easter. I ate my entire way in chocolate and that constitutes a wonderful Easter for me. Today's tutorial is a twist on your classic winged liner. I'm going to introduce a second winged in a colorful gradient and I think that this is such an easy way to incorporate a little bit of color into your look without looking garish or forlorn. And It's also quite spring appropriate. So let's get on with the fun bit which is the eyes. To begin, I've primed my eyes with the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I put that on the lid and also on the lower lash line. Then I'm going to go ahead and place a champagne shade all over the lid. Then I'm going to take a medium brown shade through the crease. This mostly acts as a transition shade and makes the darker shades easier to blend.

Next, I'm going to take a very dark brown shade and deepen the crease area. I'm also concentrating this on the outer corner and sweeping outwards to create a feline shape. Then taking the previous brush I used, I'm just going to buff out those edges. So that part of the eye shadow is pretty neutral. I'm going to head on to the eyeliner now. This is a pretty standard winged liner. One tip that I can offer for this step, instead of starting your wing directly at the outer corner, move a few hairs wits in. This might not make much sense right now but when you go to do your second wing, you're going to need that space. So just line your top with lash line.

So once you've lined your top lash line, you're going to extend a straight line from the outer corner of your eye in roughly the same angle as your lower lash line. So I tend to look straight ahead when I do this. Rest my pinky on my cheek. So once your liner looks something like this, there's going to be a triangular void. So fill that in. I'm also going to extend my eyeliner into the inner tear duct. Okay, now for the colorful lower lash line, before I begin, I'm just going to add a little bit of white base to my lower lash line, and this is just so that the colors appear really vibrant.

My gradient is going to be gold to green to turquoise but you can do whatever shades you like. I'm going to start with a gold pencil liner and I'm going to place that in the inner third of my low lash line. Then I'm going to take a lime green shadow and I'm going to place that in the inner portion of my lower lash line. I'm not too concerned about blending at this point, I'm more plotting the colors and the placement.

Now for our second wing. I'm going to take a deep turquoise shadow on an angled brush and extend a line directly parallel to the first wing. Fill in that area close to the lash line and similar to the top liner we'll have a little triangular void here so fill that in. So at this point you should have something that looks a little bit like this. Go ahead and blend the edges between the shade so that you get really fluid gradient. Next, I'm going to tight line my upper ward line so that you can't see any skin. And spur of the moment decision, I'm going to add a few individual false lashes just to the outer corners too for to exaggerate this feline shape that we've created. And of course apply mascara.

On to the rest of the face. You could easily pair this sort of eye with a neutral brush with a noodle lip, but I am just totally inspired by this nail polish so I think I might do something like a sheer orange. Yes, I'm going to go for Korean Candy by MAC. And for blush, I'm going to use Illamasqua Lover which is a pastel apricot shade.

And that's it for our double winged liner, gradient liner spring tutorial. I hope you guys enjoyed it and just an invitation to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I have a blog, and yeah, I'd love to chat with you. See you guys next time.

  1. Such artistry again! I’ve recently discovered your YouTube Channel and I am so amazed! It’s a shame you don’t have more viewers, you’re definitely one of the best YouTubers out there..

  2. I admit I watched the video to see the Chanel nail polish. šŸ˜› It’s a lovely eye liner look! I wish I could wear this, but my bug eyes won’t allow it. šŸ™

    1. Aww šŸ™ I don’t really like dark eyeliner in the waterline because it makes my eyes appear a bit buggy. I don’t have issues with brighter/lighter shades, though! xx

  3. Hi Karima, I just discovered your blog and youtube channels and I’m obsessed! I’ve spent the past few hours reading through your posts and watching some videos. You’re so knowledgeable and have such a calm aura about you…it reminds me so much of Lisa Eldridge, whom I also love! Looking forward to many more videos and posts. Love this look, by the way! šŸ™‚
