I decided to do a ‘subtle look’ and Taupe shades seem to encapsulate my perceived notion of understated looks. Ten minutes later and I was applying false lashes. Subtle FAIL.

To begin, Fyrinnae Taupe swatches. Well, they looked taupe in the pot but let’s not not engage in that debate (What, exactly, is Taupe?)
Left-Right: MAC Satin Taupe (used as a control), Koala, Beholder, Equality, Atomic Afterglow, Sacred, Damn Paladins, Evocation

I decided to have a play with Koala. Upon application, I had a long and profound conversation with myself. Why on earth does Koala swatch a deep rosey taupe on my arm yet appear to be a lavender shimmer on my eye?
The non-answer: Fyrinnae pigments work is mysterious ways.

Face- Armani Lasting Silk
Eyes- Fyrinnae Koala on lid. Pink shade from SUQQU Mizuaoi in crease, Plum shade in quad to line (click here to see swatches of SUQQU Mizuaoi). MAC Individuals in outer corner. Geisha Ink Mascara.
Lips- Fyrinnae Amplified.

Turns out it wasn’t so subtle and not so taupe! I digress.

  1. I guess it’s magic? LOL. Maybe it would look the way it does on your arm if you apply it on your lid with a damp brush (or used a mixing medium). I realize this does not explain the difference of appearance on your arm and eyelid, but…I am reaching. 🙂

  2. Estee Lauder eyeshadow in Mocha Cup is a nice taupe that I like to use– it’s a touch on the purple side but not nearly as purple as Koala looks. It seems like a nice shade though!
