SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation is one of the various goodies that I purchased while in Japan. My first impression was that it’s a very special foundation indeed – dozens of applications later and I can confirm that it is unlike anything I’ve tried.

SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation

As the name suggests, SUQQU Frame Fix Cream has a creamy, dense consistency – somewhat similar to that of Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer but far more pliable (and not as heavily pigmented, obviously). A pump would be useless and a waste of product, hence it is housed in a glass jar. Not my favourite packaging but the performance… totally worth it.

Token SPF emerges once again, 25 in this case. Either a pro or a con depending on your tastes, I couldn’t care less.

SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation

Comprendo? Me either. If you have an ingredient list in English, be a sweet and let me know!

At a whopping 100USD for 30 grams, you’ll be wanting to scrape out every last drop of product. That figure is for those lucky enough to purchase in Japan, international buyers can purchase online at Ichibankao for 127USD. It’s a pretty penny…. and still worth it.

Let’s talk about shade range. Diagram courtesy of Ichibankao.

SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation

Shades preceded with a 2 are considered to have a pinker undertone, 1 being a happy medium, while 0 depicts yellow shades. The final digit denotes depth, 1 being lightest and 3 being deepest. Pretty simple, no?

I was advised time and time again that I would match 102. I dotted my chest with shade 002 and whatayaknow, seamless match for my slightly olive, winter NC20 skin. I’m just contrary like that.

I have a little anecdote regarding application. I first trialled this foundation while in Japan, patting it on with my fingers because a) I wanted to get to know the foundation, make friends with it and b) my brushes were on the other side of the globe. I deduced that it was a full coverage foundation with a dewy texture that seemed to emphasise the pores on my nose. So once I was home, I did something I never do – I buffed that foundation into the skin. I have always been under the impression that buffing is poor practice, it kicks up flaky skin and the brush eats all the product anyway. Well, I backpedal with my tail between my legs because sweet baby cheeses, this is PERFECT.

SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation

Look at that. No primer, powder or concealer. What you see there is less than half a pea sized amount of SUQQU Frame Fix Cream buffed into the skin with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. The illusion of porelessness rivals my holy grail Armani Lasting Silk (the finish of which I described as angelic). Guise, I think this is my new favourite foundation.

I’m excessively excited and getting ahead of myself. Here’s what you need to know about SUQQU Frame Fix Cream Foundation:

– It’s a high coverage foundation. I prefer a sheer coverage yet gravitate to high coverage bases. Why? Because I can thin the layers down to almost nothing, which is far less detectable than piling on the tinted moisturizer (nothing against those, FYI).

– It’s a dewy finish foundation. Luminous but never greasy. Greasy is bad.

– It’s bloody long wearing. If sky-high Japanese humidity isn’t the ultimate test of longevity, I don’t know what is. A dewy foundation that stays put? Mind blown.

Well that sounds wonderful, any cons?
As with all dewy foundations, I notice a minute amount of settling around the nose towards the end of the day, I view this as a testament to my fussiness as opposed to a downfall of the product. Oil control will always be an issue with luminous bases- I do have a bit of breakthrough shine on the nose after about 6 hours. Surprisingly, any oil seems to disperse elegantly with no caking or migration.

I took the liberty to explore an array of primers and powders to mitigate these two issues and address the concerns of my oilier ladies and gents. My findings are as follows.

Primer wise: Armani Fluid Master Primer and Hourglass No28 Primer Serum performed poorly, with no oil control benefits (no benefits at all, to be frank). Rouge Bunny Rouge Mattifying Primer is a godsend, keeping my nose matte all day and diminishing any settling.

Powder wise: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural proved to be a powdery mess over SUQQU Frame Fix Cream. Guerlain Meteorites imparted the skin with beautiful luminosity but provided no oil control benefits. SUQQU Loose Powder in Natural topped the list as a match made in heaven – airbrush finish that kept nose oilies in check.

Overall
While the SUQQU Frame Fix Cream works well by itself, it stuns me when paired with a bit of primer on the nose and topped with a powder. A bit of extra effort and completely worth it.

I can’t adopt a lazy approach and use my fingers but again, worth it.

It’s a bit hard to find, pricy and not so travel friendly (don’t forget the qtips!) but for me, totally worth it.

I’m a fussy hoor when it comes to foundation but SUQQU Frame Fix Cream, you impress me.

  1. The first three ingredients are: water, cyclomethicone, and mineral oil. The rest is a mystery (katakata is a bitch…). : O

  2. What colour would you recommend for someone who is currently nc25 in winter and nc25-30 in summer.
I use lasting silk 5.5 in winter and have slight olive/yellow tones (Asian).
Any advice will help as I will be ordering online unseen!

    1. I *think* 003 would be about an NC30, but I’m not entirely sure. The undertone should fit your correctly and I don’t think Suqqu FFC caters very dark, so 003 would be my guess. x

  3. Holy Moly!!!!! My jaw actually dropped when I saw the after. GORGEOUS. Oh…but the price…
AND the color match is the most perfect I’ve seen on you!!!!

  4. Totally sold after reading you review, ready to throw my cash at SUQQU next mth when I travel to Japan. But then…. I realsied that it contains mineral oil. NUUUUUUUUUU!

  5. Hi Karima…its beauuutiful on you! I was wondering how this compares in terms of coverage and finish to Laura Mercier Silk Creme? I am lemming this but don’t want to shell out the cash…

    1. Hey Kristen šŸ™‚
Thank you! The SUQQU FFC is denser and more highly pigmented than the LM Silk Creme. They’re a similar type of foundation but I wouldn’t say they’re perfect alternatives. I have trouble getting a good match in LM Silk Creme (they run a bit peachy, or something). x

  6. Wow! This looks amazeballs on you, even though your skin was already gorgeous to begin with.
Do you like this one more or GA LaSF?

    1. Awww that’s a hard question! I think day to day I prefer LaSF because it’s fuss free and satin. When I want to look a polished and more perfected, FFC. I didn’t answer your question, did I?! haha x

  7. This is 100USD well spent!!! A better version of KA SSE perhaps? I always enjoy reading your reviews Karima!!

And just to point out I really read every word you type, you typo-ed holy grail and wrote ‘holy grain’ instead šŸ™‚ hihi. No worries! I can feel the excitement on this post regarding the product so it makes all the rave more felt!

    1. Well spent for me! It’s not like KA SSE (because FFC is a foundation and more emollient) but the consistency is somewhat similar. Haha, I fixed that typo! Thank you xx

  8. Gorgeous!! šŸ™‚ Thank you for your review!
Have you tried their new “N” version of this foundation? Do you know if they changed the formula in any way? Thanks!! šŸ™‚ Definitely considering purchasing after your review.

    -Kate

    1. Sorry, I haven’t tried the N version! I wasn’t aware of any formula change. 102 is deeper and more neutral than 002, but I can’t give you a MAC shade (with confidence) because it’s been a little while since I played with them in person. xx

  9. I’m happy to report back that 002 is not too light for NC25. It is slightly light but it warms up with the skin! šŸ™‚ I referred to your post in my review, I hope that’s ok! šŸ™‚ Thanks for everything! I love it! šŸ™‚

    -Kate

    1. Hey Kate! That is great, I’m so glad it worked out for you (buying foundation online can be a bit tricky!). I love that you referred to me in your post šŸ™‚ Enjoy the foundation! x

  10. Thank you for the review. I’ve been heavily researching this foundation, and it looks stunning on you:). I have to ask if you’ve tested this with flash photography and whether or not it causes a white cast? Thanks!

    1. I have tested it and didn’t detect any flashback – keep in mind that this will vary on the flash (iphone cameras are notorious for flashback, for example). x

  11. Thank you for this lovely review. You and Sonia from sweet make up temptation are for me ( and i think for many others), you two are very sweet, informative and full of passion blogger in the web. I dont know if this is the right place to post the following question, if it is not pleace remove the message. i am in these days in search of a good natural foundation. As i wrote some time ago i am new in the world of make up and i have only used the mac foundation Nw 20. In reality i think this is now a little dark for me. This is i think a pink undertone foundation but now i went to see the RMK line and they mached me with 101 shade, yellow undertone. This created in me a lot of confusion. I have green veins in the wrist that became purple in the palm of my hand and in the eye bag. I look weel wearing both gold and silver jewery, but the second color give a little more glow to my skin. My skin is easy to burn but it can take a good tan. Now my question is wath shade of Suqqu foundation or other you think is the most good for me? I like sheer to medium coverage and for the eye bag i plan take a corrector of the same shade and mark of the foundation. I writed a lot sorry.

    1. Hey Romina! Thanks for your kind words, it’s always the right place for a question!
Skin undertone isn’t always straight forward and it’s hard for me to determine if you have yellow/pink undertones without seeing you in person. I don’t find the vein tricks or the under eye circles to be an accurate measure of undertone. Your best bet would be to go to a department store, get a bunch of samples and try them out: apply all over the face, the shade that appears to match your body well is likely a good match.
SUQQU Frame Fix is a pretty pricy foundation and I wouldn’t want you to buy the wrong shade! So perhaps when you get a decent match in store, I can advise you better.
      xx

  12. Thanks for the great review. I was looking out for an review on this one. I am a huge Suqqu fan and sure enough, this is an incredible foundation. I’m NC30 and 003 is a perfect match on me. The ingredients are:

Water, Titanium Dioxide, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Talc, Mica, Maltitol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Petrolatum, Tribehenin, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Barium Sulfate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Hydrated Silica, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Dimethicone, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Trifluoropropyldimethyl/trimethylsiloxysilicate, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Lauroyl Lysine, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Tocopheryl Nicotinate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Mica, Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract, BHT, Geranium Thunbergii Extract, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Dehydroacetate.

  13. Hi Karima! I also love Suqqu products and have been tempted to try their Fix Frame Foundation. My husband will be in London soon, so I was wondering whether you could help me with shade selection. I’m currently a 4.5 in Armani Lasting silk- which seems to be close to your Suqqu swatch above. Do you think 002 would be a good match for my skin tone, or would I need a paler shade, maybe 001?

Thanks so much and I have to tell you how much I love your blog and videos. You have impeccable taste.

    1. Hey Celena!
I can actually answer this because I’m a 4.5 in Lasting Silk šŸ™‚ 002 in SUQQU Frame Fix is a touch lighter and has a stronger yellow undertone. I think it would be the best match in the range (given you have strong yellow undertones). Definitely not 001, you’ll be going too light.
If you ever get darker than 4.5 in Lasting Silk, 002 might be too light for you. Personally, 4.5 is the darkest I ever am in Lasting Silk so 002 fits me well.
      Hope this makes sense! x

  14. Hi Karima! I also love Suqqu products and have been tempted to try their Fix Frame Foundation. My husband will be in London soon, so I was wondering whether you could help me with shade selection. Iā€™m currently a 4.5 in Armani Lasting silk- which seems to be close to your Suqqu swatch above. Thanks so much and I have to tell you how much I love your blog and videos. You have impeccable taste.

  15. I wondered if I may ask you about the Suqqu powder in natural you mentioned: is it very very good? I actually find powders very difficult to find as they always look dry and cakey, I can never seem to find one that goes over, for instance, GA Luminous silk without suddenly looking… powdery… sorry that this has come out as a gabbling mess, I think what I’m trying to say though, is that as the suqqu powder is about Ā£10 more than most high end powders, would you say it’s worth it? I am always willing to pay more for superior quality that will last me longer, etc etc xx

    1. I must add… My wishes for a powder are for a liiiitle mattifying in the t-zone and to help with the longevity of foundation. (also very interested in the rouge bunny rouge mattifying primer, especially as I remember you saying it’s not a silicone bomb like most primers). Thank you very much xxx

  16. I have the newer ‘N’ formulation. I’m not getting along with it very well, I have a nice colour match but I’ve found that it accentuates dryness. It isn’t very luminous either (to my eye at least) and feels a bit heavy only my skin no matter how thinly I try to apply. Sad :'(

    1. Oh no šŸ™ I haven’t tried the new formulation but from what I’ve heard, it’s not an improvement on the old formula :-/ Have you tried buffing it in? I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I’m going to cherish my pot of the old formula šŸ™ x

  17. Yes cherish it! No I haven’t tried the real techniques brush, just foundation brush, beauty blender and fingers… normally one of those methods works for me. Maybe I’ll have to get my hands on the RT brush though since I now have this incredibly expensive jar eyeing me from my dressing table šŸ˜®

      1. I feel like I have been living a lie this whole time, I could never find your bloglovin page!

  18. I currently wear Tom ford traceless perfecting foundation. 6.5 rosewood. I’ve tried a sample of suqqu frame fix LIQUID Foundation in N 102 and it’s a pretty good match. Would I wear the same color in the Suqqu Cream Foundation?

      1. Also Karima do you know of anywhere where I can order samplers of Suqqu Cream Foundation? I ordered the liquid foundation in a sample but cannot find the cream foundation.

      2. I would love to know how you ordered a sample of the liquid suqqu? I am going to buy the cream one…but it’s mucho $$$
