Public service announcement! SPRING HAS ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA! Additionally, it is fathers day in Australia. Everyone give a big cuddle to my Dad, the most wonderful man I have ever known.

To celebrate, I decided I’d do a fun look with yellow eye shadow that is (somewhat) wearable. Placing a neon colour in the inner corner is a great technique to add colour and give dimension without feeling like you’re in drag. As always, the shades/products I used are specified in red (I used mostly Inglot shadows, you can see my Inglot palette here).

Step 1:
Prime eye (Too Face Shadow Insurance) and run some taupe eyeshadow in the crease (Inglot 434) with a tapered brush (MAC 217). Avoid getting any dark shadow on the mobile lid.

Step 2:
Deepen the crease with a brown shade (Inglot 423). Take a matte beige shade and pat it all over the lid and under the brow (Inglot 353).

Step 3:
Rub a cream white base in the inner corner and tear duct, be generous (Shu Uemura Eye Bright white pencil). Blend a bit with your finger.

Step 4:
Take any flat brush and apply a bright, matte yellow eyeshadow (Inglot 323) over the white base in the inner corner.

Step 5:
Apply your winged liner (KATE Gel Liner). Apply some taupe and brown eyeshadow on the outer half of the lower lashline (leaving the inner half yellow).

Step 6:
Line your upper waterline with a black pencil liner (RBR Black Kohl) and apply mascara and false lashes, if you wish (Lancome Hypnose and Shu Uemura Natural Volume lashes). And you’re done!

So what do you think? Would you wear yellow eyeshadow?

  1. I absolutely love this look! I was a bit doubtful at first, but I agree with you about wearing a bright color like that yellow on the inner corner, does make it more wearable and less over-the-top!

  2. I know this is a year old, but DAMN! AWESOME job. Impeccably done, clean and dramatic but it looks wearable for every day. And you have killer brows!
